I couldn’t Say Anything when I Saw Her Again

Image
I couldn’t Say Anything when I Saw Her Again The worst challenges that one may encounter are not about the worst things of the world – these are the best things one can’t achieve because one is not destined to fit into the nature’s formula. Just because of the fact that this one formula fails, one sees the world differently. All that stands rigid are not meant for forever. All that one achieves are not the success stories that stays forever. These are the few things I knew from her. Image Courtesy: From Google It took me four years to see her again. Once she was something I couldn’t live without. But when I saw her again, she was stranger than any one I could imagine. I couldn’t believe it was with my own eyes to see her again. I couldn’t believe how I gained that strength to see her again. Looking back into the mirror of the past, she was someone I trusted more than anyone. I dreamed of the better world with her. I saw the future with her.   Sadly, the...

Made In Thailand, Brought to Bhutan

Image
Genre: Fiction At schools, we meet so many kinds of friends - good and bad. This is a story of a good friend. I know her from my high school. At school she was a hard working girl. She would do her works with passion - as she would describe. She used to say, it takes some passion and some reasons to do the best thing in ones life. She was good in studies not because she was a bookworm, but she lived with perseverance and dedication, I should say. Image from Google I was in class eleven when she was in twelve. As a junior, she was an inspiration. As a student in the same school, she was something on which teachers would cite as an example with pride. Her name was almost like a mantra for our principal to chant every assembly. Her name was in every award ceremonies like these ceremonies won't happen without her name. So, she was such a good student - good in academics,  sports, but all that caught me was her sense of humor. She proved her strength in her higher seco...

Things You Should Learn in High School

Image
What happened to me in my high school is that, I was trained to study, study and study the textbooks and the notes given by the teachers. All that seemed to matter was a good result - a colorful result. Today I regret a few things looking back into my high school days, thinking I never did enough. I should have developed a good communication skills. I should have read a lot of books. I should have learnt how to write well. I should have learnt how to explore beyond the borders of the classrooms.  What I thought in my high school days was that I would get an ample of time to read and improve my communication skills in my college life. But doing this is quite a herculean task. These are some of the things that keep one surviving after high school. Looking into this fact, wishing to develop these skills after high school is quite foolish. It is my opinion that it's right time for the students  to acquire all these skills in high school. What I would suggest are: ...

What Do You Know About Social Engineering?

Image
By definition socialengineering is a discipline or art of manipulating people so that they share their confidential information . It may start from collecting information as simple as your legally registered name, date of birth, passwords or bank information depending on the interest of the exploiters. These criminals may collect information based on what they are targeting from their victims. Image from Google How can I be a victim of social engineering? Art of social engineering starts from getting trust – something like the exploiter becoming friends with his or her victim. Thus, social networks are great plethora of information about people around and finding targets are much easier. Platforms such as Facebook and Twitter are on which these exploiters may start manipulating people . What else social engineers do? This depends on what the social engineers are looking for. Common social engineering attacks include: 1.        E...

Why Bhutanese Parents Should Introduce Their Children to Coding

Image
Not many Bhutanese of my age, and above are aware about programming. Not many Bhutanese parents influence their children to become programmers, computer scientists, system analysts, or web developers. Not many Bhutanese think these professions as lucrative as being a civil engineer, an architect, a lawyer or a teacher. But these professions are the orbit on which today’s world rotates. Image from Google However coding is not limited to IT professions only. It has become a medium with which we interact with the machines we live with for our life’s comfort. Making one’s children learn the art of coding is inevitable. Starting to learn how to code only at university level has become a traditional method. It is high time we start crafting coding skills in our children not looking in job’s perspective but at making our children understand the digital world we live in. Coding is not only about learning a sophisticated high-level programming language but learning to solve pr...

How to Remove Shortcut Virus?

Image
Ever got your flash drives infected by Shortcut virus? It is said to be Trojan that consolidates every file in your portable devices and put it into a hidden file. This creates a shortcut.exe file giving no option other than to click on it. Once the file gets executed, it installs malicious applications. There are several methods to remove it from your devices. Here is the method that I found working. Follow the instructions given below: 1.    Open your command prompt (run as Administrator). 2.    Type the drive letter of your flash drive or external hard disk and a colon after it. For example, G: 3.    Once you did it you are directed to your infected device. Now type:  attrib G:*.* /d /s -h -r -s  4.    And click Enter on your Keyboard. 5.    Now it’s done. Go open your drive! A sample to guide you.

Internet: Some Tips You Should Know

Image
Today the Internet keeps the world moving. There is so much one can do with the Internet, however so much to care about. Security is one of the concerns one must be taking into account. Here are some of the things that one must be taking care of while using it. Keep your passwords super-strong : A strong password is a mixture of numbers, special characters and both upper- and lower-case characters. Using different passwords for different accounts is also a good practice. Some would recommend changing your passwords at least twice a year. Never share your passwords. Secure Connection : Many Internet connections are not secure, especially if they’re Wi-Fi connections. One should be aware that that Wi-Fi that one uses in coffee shops, airports, and hotels are risky to your email and bank accounts. One solution to this issue is to use the connections only if public networks are secured using WPA or WPA2 protocol . Use P...

The Revenant

Image
Image source: http://www.ancient-origins.net/writers-list It has always been difficult for me since I started my college life. In terms of academic performance I am just surviving. Also I have begun losing my interest in the art of writing  –  not because I don’t get time for it but for reasons I may never get to understand. Maybe I just got lost of my track. I have begun losing my interest in reading. Not reading would definitely make writing difficult. During my recent summer vacation I came to understand that I’ve been a bit lazy for the last two years. I have been losing something I might never  be able to recover. So I began thinking I should be getting back into my interests of writing and reading. I am a bad reader. Somebody told me a bad reader is a bad writer. The art of writing begins with the art of reading; just as how well you chop wood would be determined by how good you are at sharpening your axe. From the book I would have ...

On His Lost Mother

Lately, I got to know that one friend of mine, whom I got I know since I was in class seven, lost his beloved mother-his one and only the parent he grew up with. As I know, he lost his father, back to the time he doesn’t remember, maybe he was just toddling. Living as a son to only one parent, that’s also a mother who used to often get sick, would have been hard for him, unthinkably I wonder, how hard it would have been to his mother. However, they were a small family I saw with my eyes. As I look back into the days we spent together in the middle secondary school, that’s for almost four years, I see, we had a memorable childhood. I was most of the time, sort of indoor all the time, so I never had much time with friends. At school, we were in different sections after class eight. All I could meet him was during intervals and on the way to and fro school. Those bits of memories I’ve with him and other terrible friends are vibrant. We had those beautiful memories of laughter; of cours...

Letter to the Facebook Girlfriend

Today, relationships do happen between those who never meet also. The following, letter exposes one of its kind-a man breaks the usual short chit-chatting on Facebook with a long message, something like love letters of 90s.  Dear Sonam, This ain’t to freak you out with a long text message. I thought it would be nice sometimes to write something long so that I am given with a bigger space to express.  You know me well, right, though we never meet. I speak less. Today I thought of speaking something long but my mouth won’t do that. So I am sending you this long message. It’s a cliché but I find it appropriate to write here. Where the heart is filled with lots to express, there is no way to express all. Jerk. I can’t even quote a cliché completely but I know you’ll understand what I mean because you understand me how terribly ever I express the things. Remember the prank? The first word I texted you “in the history of our friendship in Facebook? That was...

Loving Mother’s Cries

Image
It hasn’t been long. I remember it like it’s happening right in front of me. But there’s no other way than to let go these feelings, these nightmare-liked realities I had to face. Indeed, I look back to see that I had always been strong. I’ve always been determined. And these positive feelings in me keep me awake- keeps me remembering I’ve got to prove that I did what I liked. I grew up when Bhutan began its rapid revolutionary growth in terms of development. My childhood days were in that transit where there became lots to do indoor rather than outdoor. Machines came ruling lifestyle – watching television become more fun than being with friends outside- that’s just an example, I should say everything changed. I grew bigger. Adolescence reigned. That temptation to experiment new things began. Then, I was no longer a kid. I was a young beautiful high school going girl. Beautiful, I was. Yes, beautiful. That’s not a brutal brag to confess that I should have attracted at lea...

Look Before You Leap (Year)

Image
Leap years are those years divisible by four or four hundred where an extra day is added on the shortest month February, making 366 days in the year. There are schools of thoughts which claim that leap year is a year which brings “bad luck”. Some believe it to be a day when a woman can propose for their marriage.  Whatever it may be, I believe it as a moment to cherish because it is a one-time-in-four-years happening thing. We don’t know what would happen in the next. By the next, we are not going to be the same as we are now. We will be four years older than today. So make the day memorable- something as vibrant as you can remember vividly in the next Feb 29. And indeed it is a moment we cherish the past and look forward for a better “next”. With  regards, Admin Sonam

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Image
The modern cliché Valentine's Day poem can be found in the collection of English nursery rhymes   Gammer Gurton's Garland   (1784): The rose is red, the violet's blue, The honey's sweet, and so are you. Thou art my love and I am thine; I drew thee to my Valentine: The lot was cast and then I drew, And Fortune said it shou'd be you .   Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valentine%27s_Day Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14, as everyone would know. I have limited knowledge about it but as it’s a global celebration (though not a public holiday) of romance and love, I share my heartiest wishes to everyone. However, history indicates a bitter beginning. It’s about brutal sacrifices and martyrdom. The better part of the celebration only after Chaucer and Shakespeare brought this into the light of their works.  With so much of love from the Admin Sonam.

Inferiority

Image
Misfortune is just another name for misunderstanding. There's no "misfortune" as such. Losing is just another way of letting others gain. There's no "losing" as such! Inferiority is just another state of being low to attain superiority. Thus, inferiority is the mother of superiority. Learn to be inferior...
