On His Lost Mother

Lately, I got to know that one friend of mine, whom I got I know since I was in class seven, lost his beloved mother-his one and only the parent he grew up with. As I know, he lost his father, back to the time he doesn’t remember, maybe he was just toddling. Living as a son to only one parent, that’s also a mother who used to often get sick, would have been hard for him, unthinkably I wonder, how hard it would have been to his mother. However, they were a small family I saw with my eyes. As I look back into the days we spent together in the middle secondary school, that’s for almost four years, I see, we had a memorable childhood. I was most of the time, sort of indoor all the time, so I never had much time with friends. At school, we were in different sections after class eight. All I could meet him was during intervals and on the way to and fro school. Those bits of memories I’ve with him and other terrible friends are vibrant. We had those beautiful memories of laughter; of cours...

Letter to the Facebook Girlfriend

Today, relationships do happen between those who never meet also. The following, letter exposes one of its kind-a man breaks the usual short chit-chatting on Facebook with a long message, something like love letters of 90s.  Dear Sonam, This ain’t to freak you out with a long text message. I thought it would be nice sometimes to write something long so that I am given with a bigger space to express.  You know me well, right, though we never meet. I speak less. Today I thought of speaking something long but my mouth won’t do that. So I am sending you this long message. It’s a cliché but I find it appropriate to write here. Where the heart is filled with lots to express, there is no way to express all. Jerk. I can’t even quote a cliché completely but I know you’ll understand what I mean because you understand me how terribly ever I express the things. Remember the prank? The first word I texted you “in the history of our friendship in Facebook? That was...

Loving Mother’s Cries

Image
It hasn’t been long. I remember it like it’s happening right in front of me. But there’s no other way than to let go these feelings, these nightmare-liked realities I had to face. Indeed, I look back to see that I had always been strong. I’ve always been determined. And these positive feelings in me keep me awake- keeps me remembering I’ve got to prove that I did what I liked. I grew up when Bhutan began its rapid revolutionary growth in terms of development. My childhood days were in that transit where there became lots to do indoor rather than outdoor. Machines came ruling lifestyle – watching television become more fun than being with friends outside- that’s just an example, I should say everything changed. I grew bigger. Adolescence reigned. That temptation to experiment new things began. Then, I was no longer a kid. I was a young beautiful high school going girl. Beautiful, I was. Yes, beautiful. That’s not a brutal brag to confess that I should have attracted at lea...

Look Before You Leap (Year)

Image
Leap years are those years divisible by four or four hundred where an extra day is added on the shortest month February, making 366 days in the year. There are schools of thoughts which claim that leap year is a year which brings “bad luck”. Some believe it to be a day when a woman can propose for their marriage.  Whatever it may be, I believe it as a moment to cherish because it is a one-time-in-four-years happening thing. We don’t know what would happen in the next. By the next, we are not going to be the same as we are now. We will be four years older than today. So make the day memorable- something as vibrant as you can remember vividly in the next Feb 29. And indeed it is a moment we cherish the past and look forward for a better “next”. With  regards, Admin Sonam
